Home > Cedar Gables > How to Measure the Pitch of Your Roof
To get a rough idea of your pitch you can print off this chart and hold it up in the gable area of your roof peak to see what pitch the roof is. This technique is only about 95% accurate and will not account for some things. For this reason consider hiring a professional handyman or contractor to measure your roof pitch on site. They may use a plumb bob and level to get measurements over a longer distance which will be more accurate than this printable version which takes a smaller measurement over a smaller distance which could result in some minute error.

Pitch = Rise/Run = x / 12
x = (Rise/Run) * 12
